One of the things I enjoy as a pastor is reading secular books while looking for unintended spiritual nuggets dropped by the author. Your Next Five Moves is a book for business entrepreneurs who intend to excel in their field. It is well-written and easy to read. If business is a chess-match, your next five moves had better be all planned out ahead of time.

I noted numerous principles in the book that stood out to me as helpful hints on how to treat people that work for you. I do believe that some of these methods can and should be used in the world of the church as well. Patrick Bet-David has both a compassion for people and a passion for business. The mix of these two have made this son of immigrants a huge success.

Bet-David offers evidence in the book and in his PBD Podcast of Christianity. However, there are little scruples when it comes to his language in both the book and on the podcast. I often wish that the young could benefit from readings like Your Next Five Moves, but many parents would not want their children exposed to the profanity. The profanity is not the worst I have read, but it does linger like an infected sore. Bet-David wrote in consideration of his target audience, which may excuse the occasional profanity.

Overall, I recommend the book. It flows nicely from concept to concept and it inspires determination.
