Everything Jesus Said About Angels II

00:00:00:00 – 00:00:22:01
It’s about that song every time I hear it. It’s such a biblical reference there. At midnight, a cry came forth. Go go forth and meet the bride groom. And I love the message behind that. And I love the way it was sung this morning. Ladies, thank you for that. So very encouraging. Can I ask for the courtesy of your patience for just a moment here?

00:00:22:03 – 00:00:47:20
Because I created a slide for today’s message. And that Sunday schoolteacher, bless his heart, was so long winded. I did not get to set it up. But if you’re going to if you’ll give me 30 seconds, I’m going to do this because I think the visual might be helpful. So turning your Bibles to Luke, if you would, and just ignore me for just a moment.

00:00:47:21 – 00:01:25:24
I won’t have this done in a New York second here. Turn with us, if you would, to the Gospel of Luke. Yes. I just want to thank you for taking the presentation yesterday and just praying for you. I mean, you know, we have to also, if you want to try to do know what we showed the world, you know that way that a lot of people agree with the Christian.

00:01:26:01 – 00:01:53:16
You know, Amy, I believe that, don’t you? I believe Jesus is coming and I’m thankful for that. Amen. Where you get your Bibles. Turn with us there, please. To Luke chapter nine. I’m not going to ask you to stand because like we have in a couple of occasions before, we’re going to be turning to numerous other portions of Scripture.

00:01:53:22 – 00:02:15:22
And now look how the devil’s getting in the system here. Now it’s glitching on me that’s going to drive me crazy because I’m a nerd and I’m not going to be able I won’t be able to preach with there. So let me fix this. Our series this summer has been summer with the Angels. That’s what we’ve been talking about now for some weeks.

00:02:15:24 – 00:02:43:23
And I want to revert back to that if I can today. So find your place there and I’m going to ask you to look at numerous portions of scripture, because last week while we were together, we began the discussion of everything Jesus said about angels or what we can otherwise call red words on angels. And we’re going to continue that thought train today.

00:02:44:00 – 00:03:06:09
Everything Jesus said about angels and that is going to take us this time to the Gospel of Luke. Last week we spent a considerable amount of time just in the Gospel of Matthew. Now, let me tell you why we’re skipping from Matthew all the way to Luke, because nearly everything that was said in Matthew is repeated almost verbatim in Mark.

00:03:06:11 – 00:03:34:09
And so we don’t need to give reconsideration to the teachings of Jesus on Angels from the Gospel of Mark. However, when we arrive at the Gospel of Luke, what we discover is that there are some different pieces of information that are given to us as well as some information that is repeated. So as we have been looking through this, some of the things that we’ve discovered is inside information about angels.

00:03:34:11 – 00:03:57:22
Some of the things that Jesus tells us are things that we other otherwise would not have known. And so I’m thankful for that information. And when we get to the Gospel of Luke, we want to bear in mind that Jesus is speaking to Greeks on these occasions and in this gospel as He begins to deliver information about Jesus.

00:03:57:24 – 00:04:28:15
The first stop that we’re going to make is in Luke chapter nine. And there’s an interesting discussion that takes place in the in the middle part of that chapter. If you’ll find your place there with me in Luke nine and look at verse number 23, if you would. Luke Chapter nine and verse number 23. The first part that I would like to share with you in this discussion today is again telling us that angels are going to be the judgment.

00:04:28:15 – 00:04:58:10
Angels at the judgment and a new detail is given to us. Luke nine, verse number 23. And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross. Daly And follow me for whosoever will save his life, I shall lose it. But whosoever will lose his life for my sake the same shall save it for what is a man advantage.

00:04:58:10 – 00:05:39:08
If he gained the whole world and lose himself, or be cast away for whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words of him shall the son of man be ashamed? Notice closely when he shall come in his own glory and in his father’s. What does it say next? And of the Holy angels. Now we have learned in numerous settings that angels have the divine responsibility of channeling Glory to God.

00:05:39:10 – 00:06:10:05
Some of the things that we’ve discovered in this series is the difference between tier you Beam and Seraphim, and we have discovered that tier you beam or sort of the work court of the Angels Seraphim are the praise team. Seraphim are the ones who we find in Scripture repetition slowly and regularly saying things like Holy, holy, holy Lord God Almighty, which was and is and is to come.

00:06:10:07 – 00:06:38:02
We find that this channeling of glory to God is a consistent flow of worship and praise. Somebody needs to be doing that all the time. Why? Because God is worthy all the time. Can I get a witness on that church? So the worshiping of God is partly the responsibility of the angels. Now they worship God because they were the design to do that.

00:06:38:04 – 00:07:06:14
We worship God for separate reasons. We worship God because, unlike the Angels, we are the recipients of God’s special grace and we are the recipients of God’s redemption and salvation. So we worship God for those reasons. But sometimes we sort of fall off the wagon a little, if you want to say it that way. We don’t worship as we ought, and God is worthy of worship all the time.

00:07:06:16 – 00:07:46:11
And so because of that, the angels do exactly as God designed them and hardwired them to do. Now, watch this with me. That angelic praise and worship is going to be carried all the way to the judgment and even the judgment. Stay with me on the stall. Even at the judgment, when the wheat is going to be separated from the tears on when the sheep are going to be separated from the goats, when that net that has both fish and trash in it is going to be divided.

00:07:46:11 – 00:08:20:10
And the refuse and the rubbish and the trash and the tares and the goats are going to be discarded at the judgment. The Bible tells us that the angels will be there and that will not that judgment will not interrupt them, giving praise and glory to God even when people are perishing. God still deserves glory and the angels assume that responsibility because God has commanded them to do so.

00:08:20:10 – 00:08:43:23
That’s why he says in verse number 26, Just a few more moments with this point, and then I want to go to others whosoever shall be ashamed of me. And if my words at the judgment we can add of him, shall the son of man be ashamed and we he shall come in his own glory, cries, and in his fathers and of the holy angels.

00:08:44:00 – 00:09:28:18
Now the interesting point is made in verse number 25. Go back up to that at the end of verse number 25. Just for context, he says what his main advantage, if he gained the whole world and lose himself and then what? Or be cast away. Now, that could mean that he is shipwrecked in this life. But in the context of what we are reading, I am of the persuasion that the angels are going to be the ones who are responsible for binding and casting out those who gain reputation in this world but lost their soul in the world to come.

00:09:28:20 – 00:09:50:20
Well, did you see the point of the text? There are those that get everything in this world and nothing in the world to come. Or there are those who get nothing in this world and everything in the world to come. Now, we’ll be able to illustrate that further in just a few moments. But let me show you our second goal.

00:09:50:22 – 00:10:21:10
Go to chapter 12 once again. This is what Jesus said about angels, and this time in chapter 12. There’s another interesting point that he makes, beginning, if you would, with me in verse number eight, Luke. Chapter 12, verse number eight. Now, once again, we have a judgment and once again we have a differentiation that is made between those in this passage who are willing to confess Jesus before men and those who are unwilling.

00:10:21:12 – 00:10:56:20
Chapter 12, Verse number eight. Also, I say to you, whosoever shall confess me before me in him, what does it say? Shall the son of man also confess before the angels of God? But he that deny at me before men shall be denied before the angels of God. Now most responsible commentaries believe that the grammar of these two verses indicates a courtroom setting.

00:10:56:22 – 00:11:27:12
Now, I don’t know if you’ve ever been to court. I have, unfortunately, on numerous occasions. And when you go to criminal court, there is by the way, I was never on trial for anything I read about or had that here. But I’ve been there as a witness and in some cases as an expert. But if you go to criminal court, one of the things that you learn is there is the state representing the prosecution and then there is the defendant.

00:11:27:14 – 00:11:51:08
And the defendant has his own advocate, his own attorney, and the state has their team of prosecuting attorneys that are responsible for bringing the burden of evidence to show that an individual is guilty of whatever crime they’ve been indicted for. So you have the prosecution and the defense. All right. Now, you got to kind of deeper. If you’ve been watching Judge Judy, it’s not exactly the same.

00:11:51:10 – 00:12:26:16
There’s the prosecution and there’s the defense. And then there may be a jury and a judge and so on and so forth, depending on the type of crime and the setting and whatever choices have been made for the for the proceedings, if this passage is scripture, many believe gives to us an ancient courtroom type setting. Now, in the ancient courtroom setting, that they are using here, what’s interesting that stands out is Jesus is both the prosecuting attorney and the defense attorney.

00:12:26:18 – 00:13:00:19
Listen to that. Again, he is an advocate for those who are innocent, but he is a prosecutor for those who are guilty. And what you decide to do with Jesus in this life determines what side he’s going to rule on, in your judgment. Now, I’ve already made my plans to go to heaven. I’ve been saved by the blood of the lamb.

00:13:00:21 – 00:13:30:13
So when I get to the judgment, if a case is going to be made against me, I already have made arrangements with my lawyer and he has already won the case. We’re just going to go there possibly as a formality. But I already know that I’m going to get a free pass on that day of judgment. And I’ll tell you why is because my lawyer’s dad is the judge.

00:13:30:15 – 00:14:03:09
Hello. Can I get a witness on that? And because the judge on the bench is the father of the of the son who hung for me on the cross, I already know my verdict. The verdict is going to be innocent. Forgiven. Now, understand with me that when the word forgiven is uttered, there’s nothing the devil can do with that.

00:14:03:11 – 00:14:26:24
It doesn’t mean that I didn’t commit crimes. It just means God has put them under the blood of his son. And I get to go free because his son paid for my sins at Calvary. Can I get an amen on that church? Now, let me get something straight with you. There are going to be people that think Jesus is their attorney.

00:14:27:01 – 00:15:01:20
They’re going to be people that think that Jesus is their advocate, that when they stand on that day of judgment, are going to be shocked to find out he’s not there to excuse them, but he’s there to accuse them. They wasted his blood. They squandered his perfect life. And what this with me, I believe, according to this portion of scripture, that on that day their angel is going to be called as a witness against them.

00:15:01:22 – 00:15:34:12
Like you say, you have an angel. And I have an angel. And those angels have been watching us very closely and they watch us from conception, I believe, all the way to the day we die. And I’m going to make that point in just a moment. But those angels are not only watching us, but taking meticulous notes. And those angels will be called forward, I believe, on that day of judgment with one assignment, no emotion, no sentimentality involved.

00:15:34:14 – 00:15:55:12
Jesus is going to either accuse or excuse. And if anybody tries to raise an argument against Jesus, an angel is going to be called for and that angel is going to be is gone as the examination is going to say, yes, I watch this person from birth until the grave. Yes, I know every detail of this person’s life.

00:15:55:14 – 00:16:22:12
Yes, I’m aware that this person either did or did not receive Christ as savior. And if that person did not receive Jesus as their savior, the Bible tells us in verse number eight, they are going to be cast out. Now, that means that the Angels will be responsible for discarding the souls of those who would not know Christ in this world.

00:16:22:14 – 00:16:52:20
This is where the Bible says there’s going to be weeping and wailing, pleading and begging. But how many of you know that the angels do not respond to pleading and begging? The angels do not respond to emotional, emotional manipulation or untruthful manipulation. The angels are only going to respond to the commandment of God, the father who is going to say on that day, you’re guilty of the murder of my son.

00:16:52:20 – 00:17:21:00
You’ve never received him as savior, so you’re responsible for the murder of my son and God. The Father is going to order the angels at that moment. Get rid of this person forever. More angels at the judgment. Can I show you another one? Turn with me for chapter 15. Now Luke changes his tone in the rest of the chapter when he discusses the subject of angels, or as Jesus discusses the subject of angels.

00:17:21:06 – 00:17:44:02
The tone takes an interesting and different direction and Luke 15. I’ll just remind you if I can quickly, that Luke 15 contains three important parables. There is number one in verses one through seven, the Parable of the law Sheep. There is number two parable in verses eight through ten, the one we’ll look at today, the parable of the last coin.

00:17:44:04 – 00:18:13:04
And there is number three verses 11 through 32, the parable of the law, son. That’s the story of the prodigal son. Now each of these is important. Stay with me because I want you to see this information, very, very important information. Let’s talk about that lost sheep. The Bible says that there were 19 nine sheep, 99 sea secure, 99 sheep in the fold.

00:18:13:06 – 00:18:36:18
But there is that one lost sheep. And the Good shepherd says, I am going to astonishingly, I am going to leave the 99 and I’m going to go after that one. Lost sheep. It makes you scratch your head and wonder why not keep the 99 secure and let that one go off and just set his own agenda or do his own thing.

00:18:36:18 – 00:19:03:15
But Jesus says, that’s not the way this works. He is so burdened for every soul that even that one lost soul is going to be his pursuit. Now, let me give you the greater picture. Are you ready? That sheep is lost outside the fold. I would submit to you today you can be lost outside. Then there’s a second parable.

00:19:03:17 – 00:19:36:11
This time there’s a woman versus eight through ten who has been given by her fiancee. Ten coins. It’s an engagement gift. How many of you know an engagement gift is very, very important. I gave my wife engagement gifts. I saved all of my money and went down and bought that ring that she wears. And it took it took a lot of a lot of hard work on my part.

00:19:36:13 – 00:19:57:24
And she knew that. And when I gave her that engagement ring, I remember her walking around our church on occasion and the first Sunday she was back after being engaged, everybody wanted to see that ring and she held it up and all these women stood, Oh my goodness, look at it. Oh, he has such great taste. Oh, my goodness.

00:19:57:24 – 00:20:29:10
He must have worked so hard. And interestingly, watch this with me. Interestingly, the mood of those women turned to we can’t wait till the wedding day because this gift is an indicator of what is to come. I listen to this back in those days, they gave ten coins and she would occasionally she would go back and just lay those ten coins out in front of her again and just count them one, two, three, four.

00:20:29:13 – 00:20:56:14
And maybe that was counting the month, maybe that was counting the I love you’s. I don’t know exactly what it was saying to her, but on one particular day she lays out her ten coins and as she begins to smile, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, and nine, her smile turns to a frown. Because she has won, she has lost one of her coins.

00:20:56:16 – 00:21:26:12
Now stay with me. You can be a lot see outside the house. Or you could be a lost coin inside the house. You see, she knows that these coins have never left her residence. So she says it’s got to be in here somewhere. It has to be inside the walls. So she begins to sweep and look. And under the tables and under the chairs and under the bed mattress and here and yonder, she says.

00:21:26:16 – 00:21:45:24
It can’t be anywhere else. It’s never left this residence. It has to be in here somewhere. And she looks and she looks and she looks into what she finds that last coin. And when she finds that lost coin, she gathers together all of her friends and relatives and they rejoice together because that which was lost has been found.

00:21:46:01 – 00:22:18:18
Now, stay with me. You can be alone. See, outside the fold. You can be a loyal coin inside side of the house. I’m persuaded there’s a lot of lost people that go to church. And then. And you’re here and you think you’re okay. But you’re lost in here. And then there’s a son. Now the father has two sons, and you can be a lost son identifying with the family.

00:22:18:20 – 00:22:38:13
Now, I don’t have the time to tell all of these stories over and over. I’m talking about angels now in the parable of the lost coin, beginning in verse number eight, we see the story. If you drop down to the end of verse number nine, she says, Rejoice with me, for I have found the peace which I had lost.

00:22:38:13 – 00:23:06:00
Then look at verse number ten. Here’s our connection. Likewise, I say to you, there is joy. What does it say? Church in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner, that repentance? Yes. I don’t know exactly what this is saying. Let me explain. Say, Pastor, I would have never got up there if I didn’t know exactly what was say.

00:23:06:06 – 00:23:31:19
Well, you’ve never done this before. He says there’s something interesting about this because in verse number ten, he says, there’s joy. And what does it say in the presence of the angels of God over one center that the word joy means to jump up and down and spin around in circles? I know what that means. But he says that’s happening in the presence of the Angels, and some have assumed it is the angels who are rejoicing.

00:23:31:21 – 00:23:58:19
And then there’s others who assume, No, it’s the angels watching someone else rejoice over the redemption of this one lost sinner who has come to God. Now notice the math. In the first occasion it was one in 99. In the second parable, it’s one in ten. In the third parable, it’s one out of two that’s lost in this one intense scenario.

00:23:58:21 – 00:24:28:24
The Bible tells us. What I am permitted to tell you today is that there is a noisy, raucous praise break that goes on in heaven, whether it’s Jesus, whether it’s the Father of the Son, the Holy Spirit, whether it’s the Angels. I cannot say. But one thing I do know is the angels have audience. When a sinner repents of their sin and comes to Jesus as say, I found that beautiful.

00:24:29:01 – 00:24:58:00
Now there’s another one fourth. If you turn to Luke 16, this is where I wanted to spend my power. Turn with me there, if you would, please, to the Gospel of Luke, Chapter 16. I know what time it is, but I want you to stay with me. Luke, 16, tells the story of two individuals. One of them is a poor beggar who’s a believer.

00:24:58:02 – 00:25:34:15
One of them is a rich man who is lost. Now, I could spend literally the afternoon telling you the differences between these two men. One is poor in this earth, but becomes rich in heaven. One is rich in this earth, but becomes poor and hill, right? One is unaccepted in this earth, but receives a hero’s welcome in heaven and one is overly accepted in this world.

00:25:34:15 – 00:26:02:08
And we don’t even know his name. And Hill. Right. Stay with me. One is thirsty and hungry in this earth and gets to eat heaven’s fruit and drink from the river in the life to come. The other has everything he wants to eat, everything he wants to drink in this world. But in hell he is begging for a single drop of water.

00:26:02:13 – 00:26:37:10
Listen to me closely. I could spend the afternoon telling you the difference between what happens when a person who saved and goes and dies and goes to heaven and a person who’s lost and dies and goes to hell. One feature that it might be lesser known when that poor man dies, somebody remind me his name Lazarus. And when he dies, the Bible says in verse 22, There’s no funeral, there’s no big pomp and circumstance.

00:26:37:12 – 00:27:19:20
But it says in verse 22, it came to pass that the beggar died. And what does your Bible say? Church and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom. I feel like preaching of your fellow listener. Luke, 16, tells us that we do not die alone under any circumstances. Then if you’re a Christian and you died in a single automobile, a single car accident on some back road somewhere, and nobody even knows where the accident occurred and no help is coming, I can promise you help is on the way.

00:27:20:01 – 00:27:53:18
And then if you die surrounded by family, even though you have these earthly acquaintances that are gathered with you around your bedside, there will be other attendees that will be sent and your family won’t see them. But I have assurance from the Bible that they’re going to come and personally escort you to the third heaven. And now look at the rich man.

00:27:53:18 – 00:28:42:10
Verse 22 says, It came to pass. The beggar dog was carried by the angels in Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died in it, just as he was buried. No comfort from the angels, no escort from the angels. When the poor man died and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom. What the Bible permits us to believe here is that those angels, that God assigned to you at conception, and that angel or angels that followed you through every single chapter of your life when you were an infant, your guardian angel was watching when you were a toddler.

00:28:42:12 – 00:29:10:24
When you became a teenager, when you became a young adult, a middle aged adult. If you make it into older adulthood, every step of the way, every mile of the journey, every second of the day, the angel was watching you. And there might have been times when the angel kept you from dying. But there comes that day for all of us.

00:29:11:01 – 00:29:42:04
One day God is going to restrain that guardian angel and he’s going to say, No, son, not this time. It’s time for him to come home. It’s time for her to come home. No, the angel will not be there that day to protect you from dying. But the angel will be there that day to spectate and watch the event and make sure that nothing gets in the way of God’s plan to take you home.

00:29:42:06 – 00:30:04:11
Now, I know this is an uncomfortable subject because we all want to live and we don’t want to die. You remember the old Loretta Lynn song, Hey, everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die on. Come on, you young people. You all need to listen to some real music, some of us trash you all got to do.

00:30:04:13 – 00:30:29:22
Lord, I want to go to heaven. But I don’t want to die well alone for the day when I have new birth. But I love living here on earth. Everybody wants to go to hell. That’s real music. My very. And we all want to go to heaven. We don’t want the experience of death. I have in my office a book.

00:30:29:24 – 00:30:53:20
It’s called Dying Testimonies of Saved and Unsaved. I don’t touch it very often because it’s an old book and it’s falling apart. I won’t let anybody borrow it. I know a lot of preachers have barred my books and I can just tell you preachers are good bookkeepers. Some of y’all have some and it’s time to return them. All right.

00:30:53:22 – 00:31:18:04
So I have this book. I won’t loan it out to anyone because it’s such a delicate book. And as I said in my office this week, I reached out tenderly and plucked it off the shelf. And I said, Lord, is there something in here? Dying? Testimonies of saved and unsaved. And it tells the story of Nero and how Nero died as an infidel.

00:31:18:06 – 00:31:50:05
It tells the story of men and women who died in a drunken stupor and went to hell. This is an old book. It tells the stories of people who died consciously. You see, we have given people so many, so many drugs, stupefying drugs these days to prevent people from being verbal all at the moment of death back before they had those drugs, when a person was taken their last breath, they said things sometimes that would make your blood run cold.

00:31:50:07 – 00:32:13:15
And then on other occasions, when the angels gathered to take them home, they would say things that would open your eyes to another world. There’s a story of a man named Harvey in the book, and here’s how it reads. About 2 hours before he died, he looked at his mother. He was dying of an old condition. They used to call it consumption.

00:32:13:17 – 00:32:43:02
He looked at his mother smiling and said, quote, There’s Mary, Don’t you see? You’re standing at the foot of my bed? No, my son. Mother don’t see her. Harvey says, Oh, how beautiful she looks. It seems as if you must see her. And he looked very earnestly at the object there. She’s gone now. 15 minutes before he breathed his last, he said, Here she is again.

00:32:43:04 – 00:33:17:07
It’s so beautiful, Mother. Can’t you see her? His mother responded, No, son, I can’t see her, Harvey said. Beautiful, beautiful. She is there. She’s gone again. Just as the soul took its flight, Harvey upraised both hands with a smile and said, Here she is with two angels with her. They’ve come for me. And the hands drop as the breath left him with the smile retained on his countenance.

00:33:17:09 – 00:33:48:24
The Sister Mary that he referred to was his little as his older sister that had died a number of years earlier. She was only about four years old now, Harvey said with his dying breath. I see Mary and I see the angels and Suzanne and Wesley had 19 children. You probably only know the names of two of them, John and Charles and Susannah Wesley, on her deathbed.

00:33:48:24 – 00:34:15:09
You know what she said? She opened her eyes for just a few moments and she said, I see my babies and I see the angels. You see, she had also had several miscarriages. You know what the Bible tells us? That angel that God gave you at conception is going to be with you on that last day. Yeah, I didn’t mean that.

00:34:15:15 – 00:34:42:02
You don’t believe this. You don’t have to shake my hand. After the service, I believe it or not, I was there when my mother made the crossing. And I’ve been there when a whole lot of church people made the crossing. As a pastor, I’ve seen more death than most of you probably put together. And. And I have seen people who died with a peace that passed all understand them.

00:34:42:04 – 00:35:08:07
And I remember Mrs. Brookins when she passed away in our church, she was 90, I think, for when she died. And I got the call away in the late hours of the night. Pastor Mom was almost gone. Can you come? And I jumped out of the bed and rushed down to that little place and that little small town where I was pastoring.

00:35:08:07 – 00:35:26:10
And I stood there beside her bedside and she raised up on her elbows and she smiled and she began to harm just a little bit of a gospel song. And then the exhaustion took over and she laid back and she smiled so big. All of her kids were there. All of her grandkids, all of her great grandkids were there.

00:35:26:15 – 00:35:53:14
And I happened to be there, too. And I watched as something took her soul from that body and ushered her into the third world, the glory of heaven. And then there’s one more Go to Chapter 20. I wish I had time to elaborate on more and more and more of these, but turn with me if you would dilute 24 hour closing point.

00:35:53:16 – 00:36:20:15
Now, you remember last week we learned that the Sadducees, who didn’t believe in the Angels or the resurrection the Sadducees had brought to Jesus this impossible riddle. A woman with seven husbands and each of those husbands died and she, being childless, who will she be married to in the resurrection? Do you remember? And do you remember what Jesus said?

00:36:20:15 – 00:36:49:17
He said in the resurrection, we will not marry nor be given in marriage, but what we will be like. The angels. That same story is given to us, in Luke’s words this time. And if you turn with me to chapter Excuse me, Luke, chapter number 20, and I’ll direct your attention here to verse number 35, but they would shall be accounted where they do obtain that world and the resurrection from the dead.

00:36:49:17 – 00:37:30:13
Neither Mary nor are given in marriage. Why? Because Jesus is the groom and the church is the bride. There’s no need for marriage among us. Verse 36. Look at it closely. Neither can they die anymore. Here’s a new detail for they are equal unto the angels and are the children of God being the children of the resurrection. Listen, when our precious church members die and go to heaven, we miss them.

00:37:30:15 – 00:37:51:24
We plan funerals and try to schedule meals for those people to help them with their grief. And we try to be alongside of them as much as we possibly can to make sure that all earthly comfort is being given to them. But stay with me. I want you to know something. When you are in Christ, Jesus, you only die once.

00:37:52:01 – 00:38:15:12
And if you have to die in this world, the Bible tells us that in the next world you’re going to be equal to the angels. Now, what do we know about the life of angels? It had a beginning, but it has no end. Every angel had a beginning and has no end. I want to say that again, because that’s true about you too.

00:38:15:14 – 00:38:40:00
You had a beginning, but you’re never going to have an end. And then. And when the angels come and gather us home, when the angels come and take us to that glory world, I believe that what Jesus said about them will leave him neither marrying nor be given. And I think that’s all going to be true. But this new state we’re to be equal to the angels.

00:38:40:02 – 00:39:12:09
It’s not talked about equal in terms. In other terms, it’s isolated to this discussion. We will never die. I’m going to give you about a half a dozen things that are not going to be in heaven. No hospitals. An angel has never been to the hospital. So your hospital story has an ending. Are you with me? No. Lawyers.

00:39:12:11 – 00:39:43:09
There may be some there, but they better get saved. But help me. Jesus. I’ve just rather just stepped over the line. No nursing homes to. Isn’t that one of the hardest decisions to make? What to do with mom when you can’t care for her? When you can’t tend to her? Listen to me. I know that’s a hard decision to make, and it is excruciating to finally have to conclude.

00:39:43:12 – 00:40:14:10
I’ve got to put her or dad somewhere where they can get the care that they need. Let me just promise you something. The angels are going to make sure they get the care that they need. No nursing homes, no funeral homes, no mortuaries, no graveyard cards. When we get to heaven, we will be like the angels. And an angel has never been sick.

00:40:14:12 – 00:40:45:21
Can I get a witness? Church? An angel has never had chemo. An angel has never been divorced or buried. A loved one. An angel has never a single time voted Republican or Democrat. You said, Wait a minute. Oh, no, no, let me bear down on that. There would be no Republicans and Democrats in heaven. We’re going to be like the angels.

00:40:45:23 – 00:41:22:18
Angels do not have a president. They have a keen interest in enclosing. What I want to tell you is that when he told us we’re going to be equal to the angels, he wanted us to, with anticipation, begin to live and relive that experience in anticipation that one day we’re going to the glory world and angels have a glorified in that great, invincible, eternal.

00:41:22:20 – 00:41:48:19
My grandmother went home to be with the Lord in the early 1980s. I didn’t even get to go to her funeral because the circumstances of my mother’s remarriage, my grandmother was the greatest Christian I’d ever known as a child. She was the one who sat on the front porch with us back before Nintendo and PlayStations and all these kinds of What did we do back then in those days?

00:41:48:19 – 00:42:11:06
Yes, I can imagine. Now we had fun back in those days and we had devotions back in those days, and we read the Bible back in those days. And it didn’t matter how long our day had been. Grandma would always bring us out on the porch there and Ellen and Jordan, and we would sit down and she’d bring that old family Bible out late across her bony knees, and she’d begin.

00:42:11:06 – 00:42:34:16
I kept hoping maybe she’ll get to one of those pages, has got the pictures on. But she kept reading and reading and reading the Bible to us, and we’re antsy and we’re watching the squirrels and wondering what the other neighborhood kids are doing. And Grandma just kept reading and reading and reading and reading. She was the first one to tell me that there was a God and Jesus was his son.

00:42:34:18 – 00:42:58:17
It wasn’t until later I became a born again Christian, and then after becoming a born again Christian, I saw brothers and sisters and cousins saved and God was so good. And it wasn’t until late in life that Mom got saved. And my mother, she had she lived her life lost. And that’s the way she raised me, was she finally became a born again Christian.

00:42:58:17 – 00:43:23:21
She tried to give me an apology for everything in my childhood that had gone wrong. And I said, Mom, it’s under the blood and big tears ran down my mom’s face as I told her that because she I just believe that if God for good, if God could forgive her, I should, too. But anybody can. I get to witness church and see that they do not have a mama on the day she died?

00:43:23:23 – 00:43:44:04
She never smoked a cigaret in the day or life, but she had emphysema. They called it back then, now COPD. And they’re in that hospital bed sheet life. And we laughed some and we cried some and we reflected in the nostalgia that surrounded her in that bedroom and that in that hospital room as we just just stood there and it was so exhausting at times.

00:43:44:04 – 00:44:17:02
But at those times it was exhilarating and we just knew that the time was coming when she was going to be called home and a nurse came in, they had a heart monitor on my mom and a nurse came in and and this is how they announced us that she was almost gone. The nurse came in and put a stethoscope on her because that monitor in the nurse’s station had gone off and the nurse picked up the phone and called the nurse’s station in the middle of the hospital and said, Mr. Traill is almost gone.

00:44:17:02 – 00:44:50:10
She won’t be here much longer. And man, I was overwhelmed with grief, all the things that I wanted to say. Now it’s too late to say all the things that I wish that she could have said. Now it’s too late. We won’t have that chance to say that each of And as her heart rate dropped and she passed, I stood there by her bedside and an overwhelming piece.

00:44:50:12 – 00:45:14:11
My wife was there with me and she just reached out and took my hand. She didn’t say a word. She just took my hand because she knew that overwhelming piece that came over us was this The angels have taken her home and we will see her again. And the next time I see my mom, there’s not going to be any oxygen.

00:45:14:13 – 00:45:37:17
The next time I see my mom, there’s not going to be a walker The next time I see her. I believe that if God gives me the opportunity, I’m going to get to hug her. And I’m want to see a beautiful, healthy woman in heaven. Did you hear me in heaven? Because the angels are responsible to get you there.

00:45:37:19 – 00:46:27:07
Did you get that? The angels are going to get you over the finish line. Would you stay with us for a few moments? Congregation Father. Thank you for the stories that are given to us today from God’s Word that help us to see and know the beauty of this great relationship that we have with the Angels father. I’m persuaded that there was comfort today in this service, but I’m also persuaded today that there may be some one that doesn’t have this peace, doesn’t have this assurance that the angels are their friend, father of if Jesus is not your Lord, the Angels are not our friends.

00:46:27:09 – 00:46:43:00
I pray that today, Father, if someone is lost, they’ll come to you. In Jesus name, I ask, In Jesus name, do you need to visit the altar today for any reason? Lost. Saved. You’re carrying a burden if you’re struggling or hurting.
